You Spin Me Round: Sewing Curves & Circles Pillow Class

Quilting is usually associated with straight lines and sharp points, but there is an entire world of soft lines, dynamic motion, and organic shapes waiting for you!

If sewing curves or applying perfect circular appliqué has felt intimidating, this workshop is here to change that. This 2 day workshop will help demystify curved piecing for you while crafting a stylish, contemporary accent pillow that brings instant movement and color to any room.

By using the timeless Drunkard’s Path unit as our background block, you’ll build rock solid confidence in pinning, feeding, and stitching smooth, puckering-free curves. Plus, learn clever tricks for adding perfect circles to all your future sewing projects!

What You’ll Learn & Experience:

• Curved Piecing: Learn pinning secrets and machine handling techniques to stitch concave and convex curves effortlessly

• The Drunkard’s Path Block: Master one of quilting’s most versatile traditional blocks to create endless geometric and organic layouts.

• Applique Shapes: A mini lesson on how to applique shapes onto a pillow top and stitch them down

• Pillows & Finishing: Practice your skills on a manageable, single-pillow project before tackling a full-sized quilt! 

Supplies you will need to bring:

• 32 of 6 ½” squares of assorted fabrics for the Drunkards Path blocks for the pillow background
• 2 of 12” x 25”” pieces of  fabric for the back + 1 strip of fabric 25” x 4” (for zipper flap)
• 30” zipper for back 
  
• Alternatively, you can not put a zipper in the back, and use a 28” square-stuff and hand sew shut
  
• ¼ meter of fusible web such as Seam a Seam or Wonder Under
• A pair of small scissors

(we have bins of scraps to use for the flowers that are appliqued on that are welcome to dig through to use)
