Upcycle & Re-Imagine
Thrifting and upcycling are trendy right now and what better way to embrace it than to learn how to do it properly! During this all day workshop we will demonstrate deconstruction techniques, cutting, and measuring, and some funky cool stuff to make.
There will be lots of samples of upcycling ideas to look at and get inspiration.
You will need to bring along some treasures you have found or outgrown, or (borrowed) to cut up and remake into other things. Items like great graphic tshirts, sweatshirts, jeans, men’s shirts or whimsical clothes that may be incorporated into your designs. Trims, rick rack or lace can be added-anything you think you might be able to throw together.
A few ideas that we will be demonstrating and/or showing for upcycling will include: apron from shirts, inserting panels into pants, cut up clothes for a patchwork free flowing shirt/dress, bags from outdated clothes, etc.
We will go over a few proper techniques on how to do these things! We will have some fabric scraps to dig through if you want to add them to your clothing as well.
